Patrick D. Benedicto focuses his practice on
intellectual property matters with an emphasis on patent litigation, patent
prosecution, and strategic IP counseling.
Mr. Benedicto primarily
works on patent litigation and prosecution matters. He represents
plaintiffs and defendants in patent cases before Federal Courts and the
International Trade Commission (ITC).
He also represents clients in patent licensing negotiations and
serves as a litigation consultant.
Mr.
Benedicto's patent prosecution practice includes preparation and
prosecution of patent applications relating to electrical engineering and
computer science including electrical circuits, semiconductor devices and
processes, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, MEMS, solar cells, and
antivirus software.
Prior to entering the
practice of Law, Mr. Benedicto held various technical positions at Silicon Valley companies. Mr. Benedicto started his
career at NASA Ames Research center where he developed and maintained
hardware and software for flight simulation. At NASA, he last held
the position of Programmer/Analyst responsible for developing software for
the Vertical Motion Simulator. Mr. Benedicto received a NASA Group
Achievement Award for his contributions to the Space Shuttle
program. Mr. Benedicto worked as an electrical engineer at the
IBM corporation where he deployed IBM hardware and software for command and
control of United States Air Force satellites. Mr.
Benedicto gained first-hand experience of the semiconductor industry
by working as an electrical engineer at Novellus Systems, a manufacturer of
semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
He also managed Novellus’ patent program.
Mr. Benedicto holds a
B.S. Electrical Engineering degree with great distinction from San Jose State
University (1991) and a law degree
(cum laude) from Santa
Clara University
(1997). He is admitted to practice in California, before the United
States Patent and Trademark Office, and the United States District Courts
for the Northern District of California and the Eastern District of Texas.
